Mildew smell in the foyer

I am a snowbird in Florida. I turn the water off when I leave. A few days after I return and start using water I have a mildew smell in my lower level foyer. Since its not there until I turn on the water I assume it may be a slow leak in the pipes which are in the ceiling of the foyer. The previous owners updated the bathroom and maybe installed poor pipes. I dont find a yellow or black area on the walls. Last year I cut into the garage wall where the water softener is and found no mold. Help.

Are you sure it's not just a musty smell from the water that's been sitting in the inflow pipes? Does it go away, or does it stay once it comes?

or is it in your a/c ducts?

The smells remains. This year we have been here a month and still the smells remains. How would I test the ac ducts? We may have to open the ceiling and look. I hired a mold contractor who came with a meter and the it was 50 outside. The meter said no mold. He suggested we read it again when its hot out. We though to get a screen door for better air flow and install new tiles maybe a next step. He was suppose to come back and give us an estimate on installing the door and tiles and he blew us off.
