I live in a studio in a pre-war building. The studio has sort of an entry-way room from which to access the main space, separate kitchen, and bathroom (down a long hallway). The main space and entry way are tied together by a large arched opening. There are only two windows in the main space. The windows face west, but little light comes through as there is another building right across the courtyard. I've read about avoiding white in spaces with low light, and choosing bold colors instead. I don't want my entire living/sleeping space painted red, yellow, orange, or any other bold color. I like a softer look that is warm, but clean. I also would like a color that would go well with the beige tufted leather couch that I currently own.

I would like a darker color for the entryway space that'll give it a classy look that is also appropriate for a prewar apt. (There are two closet doors and a framed door opening to the kitchen in this space in addition to the front door. There'svaldo built in bookshelf nook on the wall, which is also in the shape of the arch).
