Self re-seeding petunias

This brave petunia is still blooming! We've had at least two nights of -7 to -8C and my little buddy continues to flower. This particular plant seeded itself. The little seedling first began to grow in August and was blooming by September. I have another one that self seeded but the flower didn't match it's parent. It has also survived the deep frost! This seed clearly has hardy qualities as all the other petunias (probably it's parent) that I had bought from the nursery have died off. I think I may have a new species!!! Is this possible?
