I agree, Telos Rare Bulbs sells healthy plants and I have purchased from them a few times and have always been pleased. You'd better hurry up though depending on where you live because at a certain time in the fall she won't ship depending on the temperatures.

. I've purchased a few species from Komoriya too and it has been hit or miss as to whether or not I've been able to cultivate these bulbs. I went through 3 aulicums before I got one to live but the nelsonii I bought from them was outstanding. For me it's just been a role of the dice but worth the try because they so far have been very good about replacing bulbs that have died and have from time to time unique offerings.

Last year Royal Colors was offering a plethora of gorgeous new cybisters but alas, many were mislabeled or had been held too long before shipping and so the year was pretty much a disaster. They aren't doing it this year so the bulbs that made it through last year and a few years before are cherished. They didn't all die and some of the mislabels were very interesting.

Here and there you can fine some but all in all I don't think this is good year for exotics. Try Telos....Donna☺☺☺

Thanks. I know about Telos, I actually ordered some bulbs from them the other day, very healthy, great roots. Prices are usually good too, though part of that is because a lot of the normally pricy ones immature bulbs.

I also got the impression that it's been a bad year for exotic bulbs, lots of stuff was low quantity or not available this year. When do they usually restock their inventories?

I also purchased once from Telos….nice bulb I got that has offset like crazy. I used to import all the time from various countries….the best way to get big bulbs, but not cheap as you can imagine….lots from South Africa and some from South America. Honestly, the best way is to have something "rare" that others will trade you for and that way you expand your collection. Best of luck :o) Dan

Telos grows most of their plants from seed from stock on hand, so restocking would be as long as it takes to produce seed and grow them to a size of saleability. She also puts up a yearly catalog, so if anything new is available it would be shown at the beginning of 2016 and if something is sold out for 2015, it's more than likely gone.

As you could imagine, the more rare plants sell out incredibly fast, so keep your eyes open! Another great place in my opinion is BrazilPlants, Mauro is great.

Rare bulbs aren't usually restockable, so you have to buy them when they become available or you may miss your chance until another offering is available, if ever offered again. You can also join Pacific Bulb Society for the bulb/seed exchange, it's a great source for information as well.
