Hi, I just purchased an antique Alberene Soapstone sink. I am trying to decide to do the counters in the same material. Please tell me honestly what you think?

Hi there! I LOVE Alberene Soapstone, but it definitely isn't for everybody. The biggest thing is to understand that it WILL scratch. No matter what it will scratch and show wear and tear over time. The great thing is that it will not stain. Also, if it gets a deep scratch you can actually sand out the scratch and re-wax/oil the surface of the stone. I have attached a photo that shows a countertop with some wear on it. It has been installed for about a year, and as you can tell it obviously has some scratches and dings on the countertop. If things like that bother you, then I WOULD NOT do soapstone. However, if you like the "worn" look I love soapstone. You can also see more photos on my website under the "portfolio" link.

I hope that helps, and let me know if you have any more questions!
