Well it is just a seasoning and is normally lightly used so 1/4 tsp is a lot to use on a single serving of something. We use it a great deal but mostly in multiple serving things and would only lightly sprinkle it on any individual portion of a food. But it also comes in a low-sodium variety. Blue container.

Thank you so much for answering my post. I have some health problems where it is necessary to watch the sodium and I have a friend who is on an extremely low sodium because of heart problems. It is a hard thing to watch and of course it all relates to finding substitutes in the way of herbs to enhance the flavoring of foods. I ordered mine from Amazon and they did not offer the low sodium--at least they didn't mention that they had more than one. Where do you obtain the low sodium, or do you know? I was told by a nurse that Mayo's have stated that around 114 per meal is what would be allowed in planning your meals. That may have been hearsay. Barb
