What is your general location? What kinds of plants are used as gifts in your part of the world?

Gifts yes, but no Christmas gifts because Christmas here is in summer! My location is cool climate it freezes at night up to -5C but during the day it is usually around 10C or a bit more or less. You can garden here in winter, but people just don't do it and things like lettuce does not really grow it sort of sits in the beds. Would be great having actually some plants, maybe edibles, which do actively grow in winter. I have one which is called alexanders it is a fabulous vegetable but I need more. I do edibles, medicinals mainly and some ornamentals too.

Herbs, houseplants and anything with a flower.

Most of the kales (cabbage, brocolli...) do well at cold temps. Some will adapt to light freezing. Don't forget the chinese versions of these veg. (Bok Choy, Su Choy....)

Another market is herb pots. Grow a 1 gallon pot with a big rosemary bush. Take it to a restaurant. Upscale restaurants will love to have fresh herbs. On a regular basis you come by and swap the pruned one, for a new one. Recover the used one for 6 months.

A third market is crafts. Willow loans itself to this sort of thing.
