Hood height

I'm 6'1. We are doing a kitchen remodel and will likely have our first pro 36" range. In looking at the hood requirements, they all are 24" deep. Normally about 33-36 inches off of the counter. Am I looking at some head banging in this setup? Should I look to get something higher? Thanks. Steve

I'm about 5'-10", and mounted my 27" deep hood 36" above the range.

It could easily be two to three inches lower without head banging issues. At 24" deep, and 36" above the range, I think you should be just fine.

How about mock up a cardboard box of sorts to get a feel for it?

I am 6' and our showroom is most of our hoods at 30". I can hit my head but I have to try on a 24" deep. The 36" height should be fine. Just be aware that its advisable to oversize your hood a bit in that scenario. Do a 42" wide hood and make sure you blower is big enough. (900-1200CFM)

Which blowers and hoods do you recommend?

There are plenty of options out there. Here are a few that I like that aren't insanely expensive. Both come with or have the option of 1200CFM and will work spec wise. If you MUST they come in a 36" size but I recommend oversizing to 42" because of your height.
