So you can't run the tile past the bottom of the hood (in my opinion) to ceiling because there isn't a good line to stop at. It would look kind of weird and out of place. If you want to go with glass tile that would look nice and I think a decorative 'rug' design centered under the hood would look great.

One other thing to think about is how to trim out the window area. I see you have a sill of marble but the window isn't wood wrapped. So keep in mind with whatever tile you want you will have to wrap around the corner of the jamb and die into the window.

So if you use glass tile it's best to use a factory edge on the exposed edge. And you need to make sure whoever is doing the tile has a blade made for cutting glass tile on the wet saw so it doesn't chip excessively.

Try a simple white mini herringbone - like Ann Sacks Savon. Agree that you should only tile up to the hood and not above. No natural stopping point. The window issue could be solved with the addition of window casing. Toy might also want to consider removing the false header above the sink and have the crown wrap back to and across the wall.

Thank you so much for the expertise! Do you suggest I wood trim the window over tiling it? What do you suggest as the the bottom cabinet molding meets on adjacent cabinet gets in the way. Ill definitely take both your advice on the stopping the tile at the hood.

The valence was added to hide some lighting that Ill be putting behind it, but I agree it seems to be lacking in some sense.

I think a white subway tile with grey grout would look great, glass tile is a fad that will be outdated by next year. If you have a good tiler, they can do a herringbone design/mosaic under the hood to create a focus point.

If you can wrap the window in trim its a cleaner look. The tile can just die into the casing. Not sure you have enough space for casings on the left and right, ask a carpenter. The other issue with doing that is usually the casing on the left and right should sit on the leg of the sill and not hang over the edge. If you have a good carpenter around ask them what they think.
