I'm sure someone will answer your question, but I think others will join me in telling you that they don't use peat moss any more for good reasons. It can be difficult to hydrate to incorporate into the soil. Although it is "natural" and theoretically renewable, peat bogs are overharvested and it takes a long time for peat to form from anaerobically decaying materials. Peat bogs are also diminishing in acreage. Good peat- long sphagnum - is hard to find and ridiculously expensive. A lot of the stuff is peat powder.

Use compost: make your own or buy a good brand such as "Coast of Maine" lobster compost. If you are lucky and have a municipal recycling center there may even be free compost for the taking.

I know you didn't post expecting a lecture but I honestly don't know any gardeners who still use peat moss except for speciality plants, such as orchids.

I also don't use peat for many of the reasons above, but also because it's acidic and my soil is more acidic than some plants like already. Other sources of organics have a more neutral pH which is what my soil needs. However, when I did many years ago, I didn't see any difference between the various brands of the powdery peat that Marie referenced above. For what are you wanting to use peat?
