Perhaps I should add that this park is in a rural area, surrounded by farms. We have deer and, once in a while, Wildcats and coyotes, along with the usual other small to medium sized animals. That's the main reason I want a well secured, small fenced area for my dog. There is currently no deck or porch to speak of, just steps going up to a landing that is maybe 8x8, to get into the front door. Someday, my dream would be to have a large, screened in porch, but that is way down the road. My other question would be: let's say I divide the yard into plots or squares, let's say 10x10. If I can only afford to do one plot at a time, what would be the best way to keep the weeds at bay in the other plots until I can get to them?

Do a Bing search for "manufactured home landscaping ideas" images. It's not wonderful, but may give you an idea or two.

Make sure the fence for your dog's area is a minimum of six feet tall. Coyotes can jump fences up to that height.

My favorite plants are also my easiest: the ornamental grass I planted a few years ago. I bought one, broke it into three pieces, planted them side-by-side, and now they're huge and gorgeous and in the fall they grow beautiful plumes that blow in the breezes. I cut them down in late March, to about 8 inches, and that's it.

I don't want regular grass, because a) there is a finite amount of accessible fresh water on this earth, and b) my lawn mowing days are over, lol! Tibbrix, I've been looking at pictures with ornamental grasses, and I must say they are quite beautiful! What's the watering situation? Are they drought resistant? Also, thanks for the tip on the dog fence. I didn't realise coyotes could jump that high! I will make sure the fence is 6'-7' high!
