Tom, the pepper folks usually do a swap every year in Nov./Dec. and it is massive! >3000 packs of seeds last year, hundreds of varieties. You should join it if they do it again. It was epic.

kchd, thanks for the link. I read through the post and noticed that the submission date for seeds for that 2014 Swap started 10/1/2014. Don't see a thread for a 2015 swap yet, and no positive search results were returned - I wonder if that gentleman is going to do it again. Looked like a very big project for him, I would not blame him if he did not want to run another one.

Even if they did not have such a policy, I personally am not interested in dealing with international shipping issues. I only do USA trades in the 48 contiguous states. Thanks for your interest, though.

I do know that jtight moved sometime in mid 2015. Maybe the resulting shuffle put the swap down on the priority list. I think he did it at least two years. The was also rumblings of the big pepper swap being hosting on the C2C site. I'll check in with them and see what's going on.

Unless someone else wants to host, it's not happening this year at C2C either.

I passed up on last year's swap and ended up buying a bunch from PepperLover when the pepper bugs bit.

Yea, that's what it looks like over there. :( I saw no mention of it. Nor have I seen jtight post there in months and months. I am not sure if I'm crazy enough to volunteer to host, but I feel strongly about giving back to the pepper community after receiving so many seeds as a newbie. I posted in the hot pepper forum here, inquiring about it.

I just joined C2C, already have a proboards global account so was no big deal. I have known about C2C, simply forgot about it when the busy growing season kicked in. After the "thing" happened on GW I decided it was a good time to reduce my web footprint by not posting on internet forums anymore. I had been steering in that direction anyway, Houzz just gave me the last little kick I needed. Seed trading is kind of my last addiction, why I still lurk and post here on occasion. I must admit it is getting increasingly harder to justify hanging around, the well has dried up.

I hope your friend jtight is o.k. Sometimes life gets in the way of one's hobbies, I have been there. Hopefully that is all that has happened.

Garlic Bulbils

Another trade option I am now offering is top quality, organically and sustainably produced German Brown
rocambole hardneck garlic bulbils (NOT bulbs) in trade for your pepper
seeds. These bulbils are nice size (1/4 inch avg. diameter) peak quality stock remaining from my
fall planting which I completed on November 05. German
Brown is a hardy, cold climate variety, my favorite garlic (excellent
roasted). This is generally the proper time to be planting garlic in
most areas, especially zones 5 -6. Getting late for zones 3 and 4 but
can be planted as long as the soil can be worked. If stored properly
they might keep until spring planting time, but no guarantees.

Planting bulbils is a cheap, easy to ship, minimal-risk method for
acquiring and growing out a bunch of garlic. Downside is they take a
couple years to size up to market-grade bulbs. Anyone who has priced
gourmet-type seed
garlic bulbs knows how expensive that stuff is to acquire, and most
suppliers will not even guarantee that their stock is disease-free.
Bulbils are produced above ground, and as such do not carry soil-borne
pathogens harmful to garlic or other alliums that could unintentionally
be introduced into your soil. They are a safer way to introduce garlic
into your gardening repertoire.

My Offer: Two ounces of German Brown rocambole hardneck garlic bulbils (approximately 100-110 count) in trade for quantity 6, 12 seed count packs (or equivalent) of my choice of your available pepper varieties. For this trade I will also cover the higher cost of shipping bulbils. I will certainly consider multiples of this offer if someone wants more and has the pepper seeds available. :-)
