It's an excellent question and one that should really be repeated once in a while. The short answer is no. The overall morphology is more strongly expressed in cultivars but the colors of the flowers is dramatically less predictable. The only person I know who have committed to an actual rate of success is Mr. Ko who said the odds are somewhere around 20 to 25 percent, even with careful hand-pollinating technique.

In any case, even if you end up with 8 out of 10 seeds that do not bloom as advertised, that's still 8 plants you can play around with---grafting, root torture, splitting and doing the curly thing. The possibilities are endless.
