I think it can depend on your lighting. In my kitchen, I chose glossy crackle subway tiles with my polished granite because I wanted light reflecting, and it looks really nice.

True, we do have under cabinet lighting, so that helps too. These tiles are slightly lighter in color than it appears on the pic too. I can also get the 2x12 tiles in glossy as well, so not sure if I want the 3x6 or 2x12 size.

I'm the opposite, i wouldn't like the glare from the B/S. we have a matte tile with a shiny granite...we also have UCL. never thought about the "reflecting" factor before we picked B/S but i would have done the same thing if i considered that factor. i wanted a matte tile to contrast the shininess of the granite and i thought it complimented the granite better than a reflective B/S... HTH

Sprtphntc do you have a picture of yours you'd be willing to share? I really haven't seen many with the matte tile.

I have polished granite and chose a matte subway tile. I don't like sparkly things.

I like calm and subdued and absolutely adore my backsplash.
