These are cool looking seedlings Rick. I have seen an older version of the Mini Brokoli x Plastic and it is quite unique. I had mentioned the Plastics on Martin's thread thinking that his obesum hybrid that keeps dropping flowers resembles some Plastics I saw before. Hope you don't mind if I post the photo here, it is from Siamadenium's site. Since we are on the topic of Plastic Adenium.

Rick, I have one A. obesum that exhibits the "plastic" look. Very dark and shiny leaves.

I'm totally red-faced on this one. Mine failed completely and I had zero germination. Maybe the cultivation culture is different and some cultivars are not as hardy.

I sent Ruffles a Red Leaf Adenium from Rinoa and she killed it! Lol the thing did not wake up after being shipped.

Pagan, since you brought up the topic of the Red Leafed Adenium. I would like to add some history about this. Turns out that the Red Leafed Adenium, official name is 'Nila Kaan', was an accidental discovery. A grower brought back 10 plants from Thailand and treated them with a harsh chemical insecticide that killed 9 out of the 10 plants. The 10th plant's leaves turned brown/red and this is where Nila Kaan was born. Her flowers always abort before they are able to mature. Until recent years the plant was completely sterile. Someone has recently been able to produce seed from Nila Kaan, making her readily available to collectors like you and me.

So someone nuked a bunch of plants and the survivor turned red, altering its DNA somehow so that this trait was actually passed on to the offspring. That's brilliant lol It should've been named Chernobyl or something.

What's the flower like?

Pagan I was told by the nursery that the flowers are small and red. She told me her father who had run the nursery didn't like this variety because the flowers were small. However I later found out that the flowers abort before they finish maturing. This is what happened with mine this summer. I thought it was unhappy about the move from sunny Florida to here. Then someone informed me that this is standard behavior for Nila Kaan. I hope to disprove the flower theory in the future.

So all that's missing now is a 'Crested Variegated Dorset Horn' I reckon....unless someone out there has one of those! If so, please do tell!

Yes, this is far from attractive in any means. They look nice and are done as grafted specimens.

Interesting to see at least, I don't find this attractive either but would love to have a crested Adenium and also a Dorset Horn Adenium. Eventually that is, I am in no hurry for more.
