Does this bathroom scheme work?

So I think I have picked out the major elements for my tiny master bathroom. Just wondering if they all work together, or if I am overlooking something. Just want it to look simple and put together with a touch of sparkle, not busy. Here is the layout:

Vanity: This is a photo of the vanity and sink... but looking at different faucet. Will pick something that is either chrome or polished nickel.

Above the vanity will be a mirrored medicine cabinet-- have not picked one out yet.

Floor Tile: 8" Hexagon tile in dark gray with dark gray grout

Toilet: Will be white. Looking at the Kohler Persuade or American Standard Clean White which are both skirted toilets. Above the toilet will be two of these cabinets next to each other for storage of towels etc. I am "stealing" some space from the dead space in my master closet.

Wainscoting to go around entire bathroom (not shower) like shower below with a marble tile inset. The tile I found that almost matches the colors in the second photo. The photo is terrible, I have seen the tile in person and it has a lot of different colors in it, it is not a white-ish pink like shown.

Shower will be 36x48. Looking at a solid surface shower pan, I I think in white. I am a little hesitant to go with a colored pan. Shower will be tiled. Tile: 4x16 matte subway style ceramic tile by C&D in tender gray. Shower will also have a frameless glass shower door.

I have that bath pinned too for the same reason...simple with a just the right touch.

Your bath is going to look great!

I looked at your other post yesterday, not realizing it was THAT bathroom, and got to the end of the thread and thought "I love that large hexagon." I put two and two together when I saw your floor plan here. Did I say I love that large hexagon?! I love it for your bath because it's not directional. I love it with your vanity and cabinets because it looks like it has a little brown in the glaze. Matte is my favorite glaze. Love the marble mosaic. Love the shapes you've combined.

Sparkle comes in in the hardware and mirror. What are you planning for lighting?

Sounds like the next step is to get all the samples and put them together in your lighting. Post a pic when you do!

Thank you! Before this post I showed my choices to DH (I know.. I know) and he was like, shouldn't all the the tile be the same? So I needed a little reassurance that this was not too much for a small space.

Actually mayflowers the inspiration photo you found was the starting pointing for this whole bathroom. Then I found that hex tile at a local tile store and I feel hard and fast in love! So all of the other decisions were made from there. I thought about incorporating a small hex marble for the mosaic instead of the squares, but I was not sure if that was too much hex.

The shower tiles, I wanted to go larger than 3x6 to eliminate grout lines, but at the same time, I really did not want to add another element. The hex tile also comes in a 12x24 in a lighter gray color, but not sure if that would be better or not? I did not want to white tile because I want to go with darker grout. The mosaic will not run into the shower, because hubby is worried about the marble staying "nice" if in the shower.

Traci- I am hoping the sparkle comes from the mosaic tile, the shiny fixtures, the mirror and the lighting. The lighting next to the mirror I envision to look sorta like this or pottery barn has something similar.

I think you could use the 12 x 24. Did I show you this photo of a GWer's shower? I love the clean look of the stacked tile. This layout repeats the stack of your mosaic and keeps all your lines uniform, except for the floor, which adds interest. Running bond would be busier.

    Good lighting choice too.

I love the look you have going. Is that a walk in closet on the bottom left side of your layout? If so, you could move the door over to the left and add some of the alcove area to the shower and closet.

Karenseb- not sure but I think what you may be referrring to is my front door. I live in what I call "Barbie's dreamhouse" - everything is very small. No walk in closets in my house.

Mayflowers, I do like the clean looked of the stacked tile, but I wonder will it look okay since the shower is only 36" wide? That would mean a 12" stack next to a 24" stack... wish I was better at picturing how this would look. Should I go for the same tile as the floor in the 12x24" or go with a different tile? Keeping in mind the glass shower door so all will be seen.

The math of tile layout is beyond my skills! I'd ask in a new thread or look for examples.

    Here's 4 x 16 stacked and 5 x 15 running bond. I prefer a wider tile stacked.

Cplover, thanks that makes sense now that I know that is a front door. You did a great job making use of that space.

Thank you Karenseb. The portion of the bathroom that makes up the vanity/toilet area (without the bump out for the shower) used to be two closets--both which were just used to store junk. We have a basement, so we can store or get rid of the junk and we really really need the extra full bathroom now that we have two kids, 3 years and 3 months. No more sharing!

Thanks for the photos mayflowers. I think I like the second "running bond" photo more than the stacked tile when it comes to subway style tile. That being said, I do wonder if I like the look of the bigger 12x24 tile stacked for my space. Will have to scrounge the web for more photos! Thanks!

I think your hexagon tile on the floor will be great and I love the color. Your vanity is perfect and the 2 cabinets for storage above the toilet are a great idea. I think because the space is small you should go with the smaller 4 x 16 stacked tile. Good luck!
