I think as long as the rooms are not wildly different it would be nice to be somewhat unique. Maybe all the finishes should be the same but the fixtures could be slightly different. Paint should go together but does not have to match from room to room, trim should be the same. What you want to avoid is feeling like the rooms are in different houses.
