WOW so golden

I added this striped placemat to the console. I felt like I wanted to see a different pattern besides the black and gold. I was going for a modern touch. The baroque look is a classy classic look but I needed a more modern touch. I was thinking Modern Baroque glamour & pizzazz. I also added a worn printed design on the other side of the wall. I'm not sure if I'm all the way happy with that as of yet.

I think you need to add more mirrors to your mirror gallery for a bigger impact..I agree on changing up drapes to a solid velvet....something that would be closer to the wall color. Everything looks good but the drapes are just not right. This is a hard look to achieve so be careful with your choices.

I think it is the Greek key pattern across the middle and bottom of drapes that is giving it an Asian feel.

Your room looks fairly busy as it is, and I love the unusual pairing of dark grey and gold. I would suggest two different ways to add to the walls. You might install a chair rail and wainscoting and paint them a light grey that will give some contrast from the dark grey upper wall and also a difference in texture. The second idea would be to install a white chair rail that matches the white mop board. Then, I would suggest you do the silver-on-grey stenciling (as in the photo from rawketgrl) below the chair rail and leave the upper wall as it is because you already have so many accessories on the upper wall. I am afraid the room will look too busy if you add anything more to the upper wall. As you can see in the photos from rawketgirl, those stenciled walls have an elegant look because they do not have accessories displayed on them. As for the curtains, I think the light, taffeta-textured fabric is a wonderful contrast from all the dark, heavy features in the room.

I was thinking of adding plain velvet curtains or maybe silk gold curtains but I was thinking that that would be a bit too basic.
My style is more on the loud side blame it on New York City lol.. The curtains give me life the pattern isn't simple but does bring out the dark walls. I don't want to go for a goth baroque look but more of an classic/modern Royal feel if that makes any sense lol..
My dining room set will favor the picture below. (Concept) but it's in a lighter version I want to say a light tan color. I do plan to add more gold mirrors to the accent wall so they can all come together.

Take all the mirrors away except one or add lots of smaller mirrors in random positions not in a straight line.

Yes more mirrors for sure! Still not sold on the drapes...what about silk or taffeta gold drapes. Use the pattern for other accents in the room...like pillows.... they can be very bold and dramatic. I feel that you want the windows to complement but not be the focal point.

Could you try tying back the drape with a big tassel? That way the pattern would be more of an illusion/mysterious instead of so obvious. Love the clock. Can we see more walls?

I found these vintage whiskey decanters at an estate sale. I can't wait to put them to use on Thanksgiving.

I finally got my new table set its circular. I'm trying to figure out how to set it without it being congested. Think I need to purchase a buffet to go along the wall across from the table.

My dining room & kitchen isn't really that big at all. But it's what you make it.. I think it's going we'll so far.

This room is so far out of my comfort zone and I LOVE IT! The chairs with those frames and the new decanters are divine! The wall color is really popping out in the picture with your dining chairs. I agree with your earlier post on not being sure of the worn printed design with the mirror and clock. What I do like about it is the worn look, the texture is great. Could you take down the mirror and the clock and re-post the picture? I think with a wood hutch below, the stripe will be pretty cool looking but not sure about the round decor yet...

I agree wth others. You either need double the amount of mirrors or you should combine the mirrors into a gallery wall where you have two mirrors staked by 2 or 3 mirrors wide.

My space is limited.. Please over look the mess I'm cleaning & trying to figure out that kitchen window by the sink. The fridge, dishwasher microwave & stove is all stainless steel. I don't think it crash. The cabinets are oak & the walls dark deep grey. It's what you make it. I'm trying to prepare for thanksgiving. Time is ticking.

Thanks so much. My goal is to purchase more mirrors. I'm working on that now. I want to add about 4-6 more mirrors in different sizes. Also I'm thinking of adding a valance in that bare window. I'll post more pictures. I know the kitchen isn't big but I wanted this vintage Royal look for a while. Lol

I hate that all the lovely mirrors are reflecting is the kitchen. I think that being the case I'd simply hang empty frames for the effect without the duplication of the very mundane into your elegant space. That can be a cheaper alternative too since you can buy second hand empty frames and spray paint them gold. Perhaps an elegant baroque screen could divide off this portion of the room from the utilitarian part.

Still think you need to change out drapes and remove ceiling fan. That room is crying out for a chandelier...pumpkin pie looks delicious..yum yum

You're absolutely right about the chandelier I'm on the hunt for an affordable snazzy chandelier that'll set the mode. I actually brought some new curtains today. I'll be sure to post pictures tomorrow after I install them.

It's like a deep dark grey. It was oooops paint from Behr I had them mix in black to make it a tad bit darker. Lol at your husband. He'll get over it.
