How do you open your windows?

How do you open your double-hung window? From the bottom up? Or are you in a ground-floor pied-à-terre and open them from the top down?

We have all casement windows. They seal very well and keep the weather and much neighborhood noise out of the house.

Crank out! Large picture windows, with small crank out's below, & others are large crank out. We didn't want anything blocking of view. Works well for us. ;)

you need full screens to open them top down, which i dont have on all the windows. but the cat likes to sit on the open window sill (and doesnt destroy screens), so she votes bottom up also.

I live on the street-level, so I have to open top-down. I actually think its great because on a hot day the heat rises and just escapes right out the top. Keeps the room nice and cool.
