the issue is .... did the ROOTS freeze .. or get too cold ... and who knows that ... though i doubt it got cold enough.. long enough for damage to such .... presuming adrian basically gets chicago weather a day later or so ....

cut off the damaged hair .... to reduce the chance of rot ... and do whatever you usually do ... bring it in ...

if after a rest... it doesnt get its act together by say... jan/feb .... launch it out the back door into the biggest snow pile you have... and clean out the pot in spring.. when you find it ...

no use NOT trying .... but give up after a reasonable amount of time... of course.. if you dig to pot it ... or tip it out of the pot its in now.. and the roots a just a bunch of goo ... give up now ...

it really doesnt matter what the plant is ... with these circs ... so no need for more posts.. if you find other plants ... i would argue the suggestion remains the same ....

I’m annoyed with myself for not watching things closely enough. I normally
get a frost warning in my email from a local nursery, but they must have
stopped sending those by a particular date, and I relied too much on that. I
lost a huge favorite houseplant too, that took years to get to its size. That
will get an extreme haircut and I’ll see if it comes back.

I didn’t take a photo because I didn’t think it would show enough. I removed
a lot of the dead leaves last night and saw most of the stems are green
underneath. I’ll give it a chance.

Whether it lives or dies, it was worth bringing it in. My cat is really entertained
by it. She is too young to remember this experience, where her owner brings the
outdoors in, for her amusement (apparently). She is ignoring most plants but
really likes this one.
