I couldn't agree with you more and am going to be judgemental with you Stir_fryi! I just don't understand how people can be so self absorbed and callous.

Those people aren't being honest. The problem is not that the cats shed, but the people are too lazy and cheap to buy a furminator and then groom the cats once or twice a week. Hey, now THAT's judgemental!

Well I spoze if they take the time and responsibility to find the cats a good loving home with someone they have vetted and know they can trust - then I will think better of them. But I dunno - if they don't have a few minutes ea week for grooming are they going to put their all into finding a new home..... or do the cats just get packed off to the shelter?

I know teens don't listen and of course they know so much more than we adults - but your words seep in anyway and have an effect down the line - good for you for making it clear that pets aren't disposable objects.

FWIW, I've learned (the hard way) that I must comb @ least a fistful of fur off my little longhaired cat every day or she will stop eating until she pukes up a giant hairball in the shape of her digestive tract.

& yeah she gets those dingleberries as well (esp. when she has her winter coat), but doesn't rub them off - instead she jumps up on the bed or into my lap & sits on them.

We suspect she must've belonged to 1 of "those" families before she showed up starving & fleabitten in our yard many years ago - completely declawed & spayed as well. I cannot imagine being heartless enough to declaw a cat...
