Dining Room Help! Live Edge Dining Table

Hello All!

We bought a beautiful live edge table and rug for our dining room, but now I need help with a buffet and dining room chairs as well as paint color. (Paint can wait until I find the chairs and buffet but leaning towards a smokey gray color?)

Any suggestions? I think the buffet can't be wood base bc it would clash with the table unless it is a dark color but I have no clue. In terms of chair color - leaning towards dark brown leather or black just don't know the type of chair. We can fit 8 chairs. I have attached pictures of the table on the rug as well as the possible light fixture we will be replacing. Our style is transitional...colors of the house are gray, dark purple, silver, bronze. Thanks!

If you put live edge dining table in as a search on Houzz, lots of inspiration photos.

Think about a buffet that work with the table. Photos from Houzz... bottom photo - not with the upper cabinetry... I think it can be wood - needs to have enough "style" to balance with the drama of the table... Dark wood works - simple lines...sleek as in second photo....

Thanks Bette!! I am leaning towards a parsons tufted chair - similar to what you sent. A darker gray (smoke) to pull in the gray from the rug. In terms of the side board - I liked the ones you posted so using those as inspiration. For lighting - where is the long black fixtures from? I thought restoration hardware for a second but it is not there.

Paint - going to wait...I have some thoughts

My thought is that even though the table can handle eight chairs and you should get eight, please store two unless needed everyday. You want the table to shine.

Hi Bette. Thanks I do love my table. That's why I want to do the room right! (Will just walk pass it every day and smile bc I doubt we would actually eat in there on a daily basis

Not sure if my response posted...the app is being strange
I like the side board, but I think it would be too much teak with the same color in the room?

If you click on the green more info for the light fixture that you like on my post above, the info should come up on the right. All from the Houzz site.

I know...too much teak might be... too much teak. Depends on your other choices I guess.

    Black or white lacquer sideboard?

Sideboard on a sidewall or opposite the windows?

Do you think you might add drapery panels of some sort?

Side wall is the plan to put the side board

Drapes - I haven't thought about it...but I am not opposed, and that too I would do once I get my chairs, side board figured out.
And I was leaning towards a black or espresso brown side board with some detail.

Love the look of this chair. Leather, cleanup would be easy. Pricey though.

That is pricey...but I do like it. Would a side board like this be too much? https://www.houzz.com/products/bernhardt-adagio-buffett-prvw-vr~24283650

I saw that one too. Okay..I think I have a good idea in terms of direction. Thank you all for your help! I feel better. Also, I think I should add drapes, it would help with the room....and also help with the fact that the window is not centered to the room while the table and light fixture are. (really annoying). Thank you again!

Uh oh. Keep looking! In the meantime, measure what you think your size should be, there is a sidetab to search by size, color etc.

We have a similar table, and use a modern Windsor chair, from Crate & Barrel. The sculptural chairs complement the strong table, and are very comfortable.

That is a beautiful table, and I love your rug. Your table reminds me of a few projects we've worked on with clients. They chose to go with some of our lighting we make from blown or fused glass, to go over their dining tables. Thought not all live edge, they may give you some inspiration :)
