A photo would help. Is your FP wood burning? A tv above a FP is usually only done if that is the most logical and only possible solution. It's usually too high for easy viewing installed above a FP. If that is your only option, an electrician and possibly a carpenter may be necessary. Don't do this project half-way because it's a crucial design element in the space. It can look either awesome or jerry-rigged!
