Managing Creeping Charlie...

I see a lot of messages from people trying to use chemicals to control it. The one for the lawn works but only if you catch the plant just before, or shortly after, it starts blooming. It is very effective and a few weeks later you wonder where the plant went.

As for in gardens, I find the best way to seriously minimize it is to do weeding early in the spring before the perennials start growing. It is very easy to find and pull out. Granted, you are never really going to get rid of all of it but 95% is a good measure.

I have a day lily bed with a few hundred plants. In early spring, as well in late fall, Creepy Charlie is quite easy to manage.
