However, it seems a bit steep. Was it built more as a decorative item, or can people actually slide down it? It feels like you'd arrive at the bottom at quite the high speed! :-)

This photo is slightly deceiving, but yes, it is still fairly steep. You can really fly down it and we did have an incident once when the broker slid right off the edge and (safely!) onto the floor.
