Bachelor pad dining room please help!!

Hey guys,

So I just got this very small house (~1400 sq ft). I want to make the dining room look as nice as possible (bachelor pad look, I'm 29 years old). The room is very tight (about 104 inches x 125 inches). What do you guys recommend? What shape dining table? I'm also thinking of painting the walls...what color? I think I like the modern/contemporary/rustic look, but open to anything. Any thoughts or ideas would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

A drop leaf table would work best for this room with small dining chairs. Make sure you don't get large, clunky chairs as they suck up the space. Or use chairs that can be used in other rooms. And since drop leaf tables are not in style right now, estate sales have them at bargain prices.

Remove the builder light fixture and go with something less dated. Houzz has great ideas.

It might be fun to experiment with paint colors such as bright green or blue.

Looks like you have a lot of doors so chairs around a table may get in the walkway when pulled out, I suggest pic nic style - type with bench for easy movement, also I like the wood look French doors you have so I wouldn't paint them, but I am sending beautiful gray pics for you

What do you think of playing up this space into more of an industrial style look? Adding simple chairs and a great light fixture will make a world of a difference. Finish it off with some artificial plants (no need to water them and will last a life time!) and you're good to go! Here are some of our favorite spaces and design ideas:

Thanks guys. I like the industrial look with the rectangular shaped table. My only concern is space. Would a round table be better??

This table is 64 long, 38 wide and 30 high from Pier 1 and it comes in 3 finishes: Java, Rubbed black and the Tuscan brown(shown):

My vote would be a round 48" table that can extend to seat six if you had to. A really cool chandelier above.

You could even get a cheap craigslist round table and add tolix chairs in your color choice. Then, a cool chandelier above the table.

I tend to think of modern, minimalistic with bold colors for a bachelor pad look. Keep things sleek and sophisticated. Would you be interested in an e-design? I don't do them often, but would have a lot of fun with you on this!

Nearly Neutral's suggestion photos...only a round table would be my suggestion too.

Check out West Elm and cb2 for dining tables and chairs; also Ikea has some pretty neat modern stuff at a great price point.

    Round Tables:

Steve Silver Fiona. The table is 36" and costs about 352.00. You can get the stools with it, or purchase other chairs. The table adjusts from 31 to 36 inches.

Steve Silver Ashbrook - 48". You can purchase table and chairs separately.

    Pricey - Magnussen Walton table - 899.00

Is there an app or something where I can see what different paint colors would look like for the walls?

You can go onto the Sherwin Williams(SW) or Benjamin Moore(BM) website and there will be a guide. You may need to poke around a bit.
