Not sure what your budget is, but get rid of the tile and put down some nice hardwood . Paint walls light great. Replace door or at minimum paint it a different color depending on hardwood. Don't do oak or light colored hardwood ... Do something warmer. Replace your blinds too - again depending on other options you pick. I know I'm pretty vague, but it all needs to go...and be updated. Ver tired looking and dated.

Carpet and lighting needs updating too. Start there and then the actual decorating begins. Hope that helps.

You need to let us know a little about the budget and scope. If white tile floor is staying, you could head into a beachy direction. Add pale blue paint to walls and lots of sisal rugs on the floor.

For the entry, do you need a coat closet? Is that some kind of crawl space at the entry - I'd put the closet in this area. What style for your home?

Nice ideas but the floors r staying for now...I'm talking about furniture and the layout of it...would a sectional or a sofa with accent chairs would look good?For the front I want to make a entryway with a bench or mirror....let me know you guys think...I like modern classic style.

You still have not said about the colors, a bit of glam? you prefer dark? are you keeping that chair? Is that wooden heart fixture staying? Is that wall your painting, it looks kind of like naugahyde color?

Anyway, do not have any other helpful decisions yet, but this is most important. if you like classic, overstock is having a huge sale on benches and these are a very good price next to others. first leather, second cloth (velvet?)

I like subtle colors but with a pop with accessories....the chair I'm thinking of selling it...and the heart fixure is definitely going....

For color - that brownish color, where the TV is, what about the lighter color on the paint chip for that.

For layout, you can keep the TV on that wall, and you can float the sofa just like the black sofa(add a sofa table) , add a love seat, where the red sofa is and then 2 chairs, whose backs will be to the dining room(they would face the TV).

Can you post a photo of the carpeted area I can barely see in one of the shots. Is that the dining area? And, (sorry, Grover) if so, have you thought about switching tv/living area with the dining? They are both close to the kitchen and dining table sitting on tile makes sense spill wise! Plus, you don't see tv as soon as you enter.

If you could sketch out the entire area there, with dimensions, windows, doors, it would be a big help for us out here.

Before I purchased any new furniture, I would also update the window treatments. Wide white real wood blinds would be nice here. Also like this paint color.

Thinking your kitchen cabinets aren't going with your modern classic style. The ones in this photo were painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. I believe you do not have to strip the paint off, just paint over.

Maybe someone out there has done this?

I would leave the dining area as the dining area.
I would get an area rug and drapery panels. Consider a round glass top table with a wood base to tie in your cabinets. Upholstered chairs. Nice piece of art and drum shade pendant. I would paint the wall with the sliding glass door an accent color like the entry wall. In the living room I would use the same rug, drapery panels and pendant fixture as dining. Small sectional with chaise facing tv. Then swivel chairs with backs to entry. I did wicker again to tie in cabinets. Small round table in between. Get a plant to put on side of tv so you don't see it from entry.

Anyways what I was trying to say was that let me know abt the furniture because I'm going in the morning to purchase it.
And about the entry way I like Nancy suggestion but there's a window where I want to put the mirror and the table...(It's the same wall where the tv is)...So any suggestions there let me know....

I love the furniture. I would tape them out on the floor with painters tape to check the sizing. I know this is unconventional, but you could hang the mirror from the ceiling in front of the window in the entry.
