I have a Needle Palm that has been outside since last April in a pot. The temperature here has finally reached below freezing temperatures. My Needle Palm has no sign of frost or freeze damage even though it has been outside in below freezing weather for about a week, some day temperatures got to maybe 40. I went outside to finally pull the palm in and saw some new growth. I pulled on it some and it pulled right out. I was a bit shocked since the palm doesn't show any damage; it still looks very green to me. The palm isn't mushy or bending over. I checked the roots and they look healthy also.

My question is, can a spear pull even though a palm looks healthy? It is still a young needle maybe 2 feet tall.
