Love fabric. Glam it up with brass curtain rods and brass accent metals in the room....will give contrast and interest and Oh, what IS that! the gold will soften the room and blend the high contrast.

PS I think the shutters are too country and full sheers would be a better choice.

I would not use that fabric, rather use a linen drape in a darker color that goes with your house. Maybe a gray, red, black.... Hang the drapes about 8 inches from the beams on the wall to continue with the height of your room.

I agree that my farm table does not fit the bill! I am trying to work with it so I like the idea of a mirror top or what about a glass top?? I definitely am an eclectic person. I have the fabric hanging and will see if it works.

If you do the glass, you can paint the backside a color---think it would be better suited for your room than a mirrored top. CheerS!

It can be painted any color.

Another option, mercury glass tabletop. Paint glass with looking glass spray, mist with 50/50 vinegar and water, buff, finish with clear coat sealer.

Oh I love comment above with the mercury glass and the shimmery linen curtains. Use the fabric you love to turn into a runner on the sideboard perhaps?

You have quality furniture and the fabric, while pretty, isn't up to your standards. I think you can do bling just not this fabric. Something with more weight. Love the suggestions of adding mercury glass to your room.

I know you didn't say you want to change out the area rug, but if it were my place I would put a rug that had some color in it, and then hang some curtains or drapes that picked up some color in the rug to tie it together.

Also, I am no expert on window treatments, but won't a whole wall of drapes hanging to the floor be a bit overbearing in that area?

Christine, while I loved the "bling fabric", I felt it was too much in this casual,elegant space. I would go with a more natural type of look. You could do a patterned sheer fabric over a colored taupe lining, creating a unique beautful look.
