I'm remodeling my kitchen in Columbia, MD. Love the butcher block countertops--color and finish! What product did you use?

Thanks for the inquiry! The island countertops are black walnut at 5/4" thickness. They're finished with 6 coats of Waterlox finish. We're happy to assist if you're looking for a custom countertop builder!

Thanks for the quick response. I had a satin finish in mind, but the high gloss is very pretty in pictures. What's the day-to-day maintenance like, and how often would they require refinishing with typical wear and tear from in a child-free, Baby Boomer household i.e, we cook 2 or 3 times a week.

Satin could be nice - we've done it in the past. In general the glossier looks a little nicer for a kitchen countertop. Maintenance is relatively low, I wouldn't recommend cutting directly on it as a cutting board. Soap and water cleans up perfectly. Refinishing is quite simple - #0000 steel wool and a coat or two of the Waterlox will have it looking brand new! Moderate use should last at least 2-3 years!
