Any machine can be used to FM quilt with the correct foot and dropped feed dogs....even an old treadle machine. The drawback to them all is the openness of the harp to accept the bulk of a quilt--but it can be done! Many quilts have been completed on machines with small harp. However, if you are seeking something larger--a mid arm or such, I think you will have a difficult time finding one for $200. Hope you get lucky in your search!
