Walls?

The walls above and beside the kitchen cabinets are gorgeous! Can you give me information about how they are finished?

Thank you for the lovely compliment! The walls are steel panels that are "blackened" off site and installed pre-finished.

A piece of 16 gauge "blackened rolled steel" was just delivered but the color/finish is not at all what I had hoped for. Any ideas regarding how to improve the color of it? Thank you!

The finish color / texture can vary depending on the way the steel was fabricated. There is cold rolled steel, which is much smoother and typically free of imperfections, sort of like a paint or powder coat finish. If you want more of the grit and irregularity that most people associate with blackened steel, you should try hot rolled steel, which generally has a lot more character. The thickness of the steel sheet will also contribute to the finish texture. I'm not sure what the steel looks like that you have received, but would ask your local metal fabricator for more information on this and make sure they show you some samples of your options!
