No........ the fact it is a NICHE is accent enough. Put a narrow sculpture in it and be done.

I just wonder about painting yours the approximate color of the thing at the top / and then whatever you want to display. Just to see this one as accent.

Whatever color you paint it, paint the white door bell box the same color.

They are paintable i believe.

i wonder how it would look if you did just the edge a contrast but not the back. if it was mine i'd be tempted to fuss at it too.

look into a non-hard wired doorbell that can be placed elsewhere, it's not necessary to have it be there.

I would just drywall it up.
