Please help me choose a fabric...

I am driving myself crazy trying to choose a fabric for this antique Louis xiii arm chair. It will be used in a guest room with pale yellow walls. The first two photos show the chair in current condition. The third photo is of a pillow from the existing bedding in the room. Bedding colors are pale yellow, sage green, and brown. The fourth photo shows a brown and cream zebra print I am considering, but am not married to at all. Please help! All suggestions are appreciated!!

My vote would be for the zebra print. The bedding may change at some point and a well-executed zebra print chair can blend into other environments.

Cream and beige chevron would look fabulous....zebra on that carved chair will look to heavy.

I will look for a beige/ cream chevron fabric today. In the meantime, here are a few other fabrics I am considering for the chair. I would love to have comments about any or all of them....

A few more I'm considering. What do you think?

I would do the first zebra it will make the chair a bit of a staement without being garish.

Thanks! First zebra and second zebra photos are actually the same fabric. It's a Ralph Lauren fabric. The color shows more true in the first photo. The colors are a rich coffee colored stripe against a cream field. I'm pretty sure that that's the one I'm going to go with, but I'm so fearful of making a mistake!

Zebra 100%...it never goes out of style and can fit most rooms easily. good luck.

Love zebra and agree it fits in most decor...but your chair is very carved around the front seat area. What is the decor in the room it will be in? Looks like maybe a more tropical feel? Maybe choice a zebra in a tone on tone instead of such a dark print.

Pretty sure I'm going to go with the Kravat cream and black zebra print shown in these photos, rather than the brown and cream Ralph Lauren zebra print shown in my earlier photos. Any advice greatly appreciated!

Thank you all for your advice and comments, and Mark, thanks for the image of the finished chair!
Now to decide on color for nail heads. I'm thinking an antique bronze brushed finish... My other thought would be a matt black. Any ideas?
I wouldn't do nail heads..design overkill..so sorry I just think less is more with the design of the chair...can you tell I am stubborn.
Hehe good luck sounds like you have made your decision.

Here is a photo of the chair with its original fabric as purchased by my husband's grandmother. Notice the nail heads. I'm not a designer by any means, but I do think that nail heads are traditionally used on upholstered Louis XIII chairs. Nail heads were also used when the chair was reupholstered by my husband's mother, and that is pictured above in the very first photo I posted. I respect your opinion, and I can tell that you do not like the zebra print for this chair. I am hoping it turns out well and that I do not regret my choice.

Yes that is the point.....Renew it with a fresh look rather than repeating what was done years ago...love the chair and would like to see the wood and unique design be the star of the chair. No worries wasn't trying to diss your likes just one opinion.

Two interesting, and in my opinion, successful applications of zebra print fabric with nail heads on Louis XIII style chairs....

I hope mine comes out as well!

They both look great! Different looks, but both great! Love the leather seat option on the left.

You got it. Kravet zebra with the bronze nailheads. Perfect with the bedding and colors. Please let us see it when your finished.

I do love the combination between white chair (looks antique white) and zebra fabric. Anyhow depends on your room, this will be looked contrast.

I like both the chair fabric and the bedding, but I am not sure the bedding does the chair justice, now. The chair fabric needs something a more Indian in tone, IMO. Consider a paisley in rich tones?

The chair will be going back into the guest room, as soon as my husband gets home and takes it up the stairs!

I like it, too. I stuck my nose into this convo when I saw your chair (love) and the fabric you were considering.

Louis XIII and India are related, too. (I love little tidbits like this when decorating...)

I probably would not have chosen that print, but you had vision. It pops! Good choice.

Chair is striking ( I know you love that fabric) and I couldn't change your mind......but it is not right with bedding....if bedding hasn't been purchased I would take a second look.

Just a few suggestions.....good luck with your bedroom.
