Can we see a picture from a distance to include the floor? It's hard to tell seeing only a small section of your kitchen.

I definitely am not liking the gray tile or the stone backsplash. From the picture, I like either the cream ceramic or the almost black tile.

I think the darker tile that is longer is perfect with the counter gives some relief from all the cream

I agree, the little grey tile is out. I'll take a picture of the floors, for now, here's a close up picture of the dark tile. It's a matte taupe.

I like your light color subway tile choice. The darker backsplash will darken the room.

I understand your husband wants the granite to make a statement. The backsplash is in the vertical position and will stand out more than the granite that is on horizontal line. Back splash should always make the statement. As a designer I would go with subway tile stone cream color with a mosaic liner. Honestly Tracey, that is so helpful! I'm sure every renovator has wished to see something like this to make their life easier.

I like the look of the dark gray color Tracy has mocked up....I would just want some tiles with a bit more going on, such as light crackle, bevel, or just tonal variations.

Would a slightly lighter grout work qam999? Bring out the subway pattern?

These two kitchens have different grout colours on the backsplash - do you have a preference?

I think I like the grout blending in a little more than the contrast. You still see the lines, but it's more subdued.

So I'm tallying the votes here. Seems to be the darker subway pattern wins?

I love the taupey one and use a cream colored grout to keep it from being completely uniform. Maybe even a herringbone install.

I was going to suggest the top 2 tiles, but after seeing the floor and wall color, I think an ecru and straw color should be incorporated. Subway tile is from Wayfair---the Unique Shapes tile samples are from Glass Tile Oasis.

Dawna, colors on the screen are so difficult. Linen tile is not purplish at all. It is a light greige. http://www.jeffreycourt.com/tile-product/bar-field-tile-mist-18x6-22202/. It looks great with Bianco Antico.

But, To Natalie's point about the floor, creamier colors may tie it all together better than grays.

Ahhh, I'm so glad Natalie chimed in, the color queen. Those are all beautiful choices, I love the design. Lowe's actually has one that's a very similar design, I just wasn't sure it it was too busy. What do you think of Astonia's idea of making the grout a cream color, to blend it in?

If Lowes has a tile comparable in color, shape, and size then I think it's worth purchasing a sample to see how it looks in your kitchen.

As for grout being lighter than the tile, I'm not in favor of it.
