Playroom/dining room combo help!

We are desperately needing to redo this room. It needs to serve as a dining room and playroom combo for our twin boys. At this point more of a play room than dining room, however our small round table needs to fit in somewhere! Is it better to put the table in the centre and toys all around, off to one side or in a corner somewhere? We are so lost on how to make this room work best for all of us. It is so far from the look of the rest of the house and needs serious help! Some of the toys have changed since this picture so there aren't as many big ones. The room is approx 12 x 13 feet and our table is a 4 ft round

I would find as much closed storage as possible. That way when you want to use it solely for dining you can put all the toys away. Here's an idea using a bench around the room with baskets. You could have a small craft/dining table for the kids and another table for the adults/kids.

First you need to get a lot of the toys out of there kids do not have to have every toy they own out. We used to put 1/2 the toys away in storage and the rest had to fit in storage boxes which my dad built that worked as benches with padded seats then every couple of months we took out the ones in storage and put the others away it worked very well with 3 boys.a lot of waht i see can go it their room and can come out and go back at the end of the day. When you have good storage for the rest in either a couple of low chests or cupboards they learn to put it allaway at the end of the day so it can revert to DR. I loved my kids but that did not mean they got to take over my house and they don’t need to.

Donate 3/4 of that. Maybe even 7/8. Do closed door or drawer storage for what remains.

We currently don't have that many toys out, this is just the only picture we have that isn't all decorated for our Christmas party. The room currently has the dining table in the corner, and all but a few of the toys. We are currently only looking how to better amalgamate our dining room and play room together.

Like I said a lot of the toys are no longer in there. What I am asking is not what to do with my toys or how to raise my children but how you would combine a dining room and toy room together. If anyone has ideas on design style

I think you just need lots of closed door storage so you can hide the toys when needed. And also your guests will understand that there will be evidence of kids around as presumably they know you are parents! :). Enjoy your twin boys, my twin boys are 23 now but it feels like just yesterday that our house was like yours.

A banquette would be another option. It would leave the floor space open and provide seating and storage.

I would rearrange the floor tiles so they extend the length of the room. Then you can just push the toys onto the rug or floor tiles when not in use so as not to impede on the dining space. I like the first layout best...

You could also divide the space with bookcases. I did something similar for my niece and created a playroom within her bedroom. It worked rather well (at least from her parents' perspective).
