Decorating with Angels

I want to create an angel wall filled with angels that I collect from my travels as well as paintings with angel themes and angel decor pieces. The walls in the house are white except for gray accent walls. My pillows and other accent pieces tend towards pastel shades such as aqua, lavender, and citrus. Would angels be considered too feminine to use in a man's townhome?

Gender shouldn't matter when deciding to display items you love in your home.

EVERYONE loves a good angel. LOL

Truth is the Angels that are known, are all MEN!! Fierce warriors. Michael, Gabriel, Raphael... Just sayin.

Not if you throw in a Doré angel or two:

I think unicorns might be better with a pastel color palette.

I actually have an androgynous angel over my fireplace.

He/she's right above you. And I think I've inspired a new collection!

Angels are not inherently feminine, they've just been co-opted by the tchotchke industry.

    Ooooh! How lovely!

I used to collect angels, and found a photo of the home I had in the 80s-90s in which they were displayed. I think I only have one or two remaining, and I kept them because my brothers gave them to me when they were just little boys. Looking back at all of my angels was like taking a little stroll down Memory Lane. One in particular was terra cotta, quite cherubic and large. He was a wall-mounted piece and had his arms outstretched as though he were flying, face looking down. For some reason, we named him Randy. I kinda wish I still had him.

Oh my gosh, I am ROFLMBO after reading through this thread. Yes, I agree that the OP may never show his/her "face" here again after you all have hijacked this post! On the other hand, it's hilarious and very entertaining, so thank you!

I'm getting perverse pleasure knowing there is an angel named Randy. ;)

Out here in New Mexico, we love our crosses, santos (saints) and angels. All angels are supposedly androgynous, but you'd ever guess that from the ones we have around here. As a pretty typical New Mexican, I've collected quite of few of all of the above over the years, much to the bemusement of my Baptist hubby (LOL).

    Funky: too funny!

So hard to take a picture of a picture, but ... here's Randy.

Jen, I don't think Randy is an angel, he looks like an Italian putto. Look at the link and see what you think. :o) Putto

    A putto! I think you're right!

To answer the original question, I do think angels are an unusual choice for a man's home, but who cares? If you enjoy them and want to live with them, you absolutely should.

When I met my husband he had a lot of the typical "guy" decor, but he also had some very sweet little angel collectors plates that he had purchased simply because he thought they were pretty. I found that endearing.

Linelle, that's a beautiful painting. Who's the artist?
