I realize this image (Dorsey Residence, street side) is a couple of years old now, but I'm loving this view. Reminds me of Olson Kundig's "The Brain."

I realize northern WA is a rather mild climate, but still gets cold at times. For these concrete formed exterior walls is there any type of thermal break within the concrete? It seems there would be a lot of cold penetration, or at least a tougher time heating with that type of thermal mass cooling to the inside.

And what is the relative R value of a concrete wall of that thickness (without any insulation)?
