The photos in your idea books tell me you love simple and pretty neutral. If you want a little something for those nooks, you could shop around for a series of glass pieces. Go as large as possible with just a few pieces. Maybe some large glass bowl on the coffee table also.

If you want to add color, I would shop for a large art piece you love for the wall behind the sofa. That will be your "jumping off point". Then you can pull colors from the art for pillows, accessories.

Check out Ballard Designs and shop Houzz for art that you love. Keep the colors of your rug in mind also.

Here is one I like. The white in it will stand out from the wall color. And the white ties into your coffee table and fireplace hearth. Then pull more white, turquoise and teal into your room.

If you want to add color, I agree, a large artwork behind the sofa is a good starting point. Then you can pick colors from it for accessories.
