It sounds like your design intentions are to brighten your space. Have you considered painting your cabinetry white to match your trim? White would also provide nice contrast to your medium tone cabinets. In that case, I would keep your walls as is, or tint them a shade or two deeper than the current color.

Or what about painting your cabinets your current wall color that I see around the door?

I recently painted my cabinets light gray because I had putty colored cabinets like yours and granite with some gold and gray in it. I wanted to do dark grey but the painters talked me out of it. I'd get professional cabinet painters who will lacquer spray the cabinets.

I think your brick floor would show up great with light grey cabinets but I don't think your island colors will work any longer. Wall color -go with cream unless you want color. Mine are tidewater blue. And gray is in the next room. Don't paint the walls the same color as the cabinets - you want some contrast.

For wall color look at BM Spring Bud It is light green. I really like your cabinets now. Painting them would be a last resort, IMO. SW Conservative Gray is also a light green.

Thanks everyone! Your comments suggestions confirm my own thoughts! I do want some contrast between the cabinets and the walls. The pic doesn't really indicate the depth of wall color. What would you think of a white cabinet on top and a darker color cabinet on the bottom? Or maybe a contrasting stove hood color? Thanks again, you guys are GREAT!

I'd do one color on all cabinets. You have a lot of color with granite and floors. It will be more calm with one color cabinet. But I know some people like that.

I did consider a two tone for the top and bottom cabinets, but since your kitchen is not huge, I'd keep them all the same

I would change the wall color first before you make any other investments. Your kitchen is very nice

I think your cabinets are nice. I also think that darker hardware would look better. If you are looking to update, would you consider changing the backsplash area over the cooktop? Maybe even remove the current range hood, taking the tile high and install a sleek stainless steel hood.

I think ccmev has great advice! Changing out the hardware to oil rubbed bronze or gunmetal would make a world of difference. Your kitchen has good bones so minor changes will make a huge difference.
