Hi Maryoroyne! Thanks for your note. What you are seeing there is a classic modern feature called a "reveal base". It is something that we think of as coming out of NYC art galleries, but that might not be anything more than an "urban design legend"... Anyway, the easiest way to make these may be to use aluminum reveal base profiles such as those made by companies like Fry Reglet or Pittcon. You will find them on line. Another possibility would be to cap the bottom of the drywall with "J-metal" and cut a strip of gray plastic laminate (ie Formica) to glue onto the face of the studs underneath - that works too.

This technique gives the walls the feeling of floating off the floor, which is a great look. Be careful with your mop, though - it's easier to scuff, stain, or ding the walls when they don't have an applied painted wood base.
