The entire wall and cabinetry was designed by us at SKD Architects. JL Rosewood was the Minneapolis cabinet shop that built the cabinets. The mantel and hearth material may be wood, but this choice will be dictated by the type of fireplace unit and their requirements. I would expect that the mantel this close to the firebox would have to be stone. The upper ledge might be able to be wood.

Is your linear fireplace open or glass front. I need a open linear masonry box with a linear gas system.

This fireplace has a fixed glass front that is recessed about 4" from the box. It is an Ortal metal box fireplace unit that we detailed with stone all around it.

A linear true masonry fireplace would have to be a custom design with an outdoor style linear gas burner and control system. I would talk to a mechanical engineer and experienced stone mason. Depending on the size you may be looking at a makeup air system, too.

If you are working with an existing masonry fireplace, I would talk to an engineer to understand your limitations.
