With a home that is open with lots going on (windows/stairs/cutouts I would suggest painting the downstairs all one color. It will look too busy if you add different colors to each room. Perhaps up in the loft on a wall that you can't really see from downstairs you could paint an accent wall. Or, the kitchen could be painted a different color. Your floors have a lot of orange in them and your furniture is on the gold/brown side. Therefore, I would suggest a soft gray/green or gray/blue on the walls.
