Jackfruit budding but without leaves

Greetings,

I have a small jackfruit seedling which I am attempting to grow indoors (for now). It was doing pretty well, but it had exceeded its container, so I repotted it into some soil that held too much water. It started doing badly, so I changed it to some better stuff, and I don't think drainage is so much an issue any more, but it lost its remaining leaves in the shock. Now, it keeps growing out little green leaf buds, but they never make it into becoming actual leaves. Any ideas why that would be?

My opinion: when you transplanted it you caused the fine root structure to be disturbed. The root system can no longer easily support so many leaves. Typically when all the buds grow green but do not leaf out, it means the plant is lacking in vigor to grow. This comes about through hormonal messengers. Some of the buds will eventually leaf out, but it will take a longer time. I recommend using a grow light and ensuring that the temperature is not allowed to drop too low. When the root system has finally had time to become fully established again, the plant will grow normally.
