Very satisfying to see my end of the trade doing so well! I'm glad you like it. It was a bunch of small divisions. I have more of little stars than any other orchid. Mostly because it is so prolific. There were quite a few divisions from one plant. I even traded about ten of those divisions to a nursery for some very nice crotons. Before she looked at the orchids she said I never trade for plants. I said please just look. She could not help herself. I have it in several pots, several mounted on cork and a bunch in the trees. Also they are attached to a 6 x 6 post. Not just little stars but they dominate.

Lovely plant and the wood is spectacular.

Florida and California differ on the seasons. My little stars peaks in November and most of the blooms are gone. I noticed that with citrus also.

My Little Stars from Harvey is starting to open. Mine was a smaller division or one divsion. Still, It is doing very well. It has bloomed 3 or 4 times in 18 months.

Nick that is an awesome plant... Love it!

I picked one up at Lowes last February and it grew and bloomed nicely and perfumed my bedroom in October/November. Unfortunately it caught some infection when it stayed outside in the cold for too long and I had to cut off a big portion in order to not loose the whole plant. There are eight leafs left now, but I keep my fingers crossed that they start to show some growth again soon.

I like this swirly wood too and I get it at the aquarium place (just to have a tank). About two years ago I attached some Tillandsia plants to a couple of small pieces of this type of wood and put them in my front yard. The Tilly's are doing very well.

Took it to our monthly Orchid Society meeting where it was 'Speaker's Choice'. The speaker was George Hatfield, newly nominated to be the president of AOS, head of the local group of AOS judges etc. He said that the correct name is Rhyncholaelia 'Little Stars' but that it is commonly called BC . Any comment? Arthur?

I do not think it is BC. I believe it is a primary cross of brassavola nodosa x brassavola cordata. Unless somehow brassavola has been eliminated by the name changers...

Rhyncholaelia I think is the previous name of brassavola. No Bc. Both parents are brassavola species...

I found the original tag from Harvey. It's a straight Brassovola 'Little Stars'.
