The ipe was stained in this case but ipe has a natural deep tone to start with.

what size of wood is the wall screen made of? 2x2? 1x2? are they screwed from behind so no screws are visible?

If its the same size as the sample i have here in the studio, it's actually 1" x 1.25". As with all the Ipe on the house, including the deck(s), the screw fasteners are not visible.

Note - The holes for the counter-sunk screws would be pre-drilled. The horizontal wood pieces would have to be partially assembled as a panel before erecting and anchoring to back-up wall.
