They are not at all "out"! About as popular as nickel, to judge from photos here. Gold-toned brass is starting to make a come-back too.

If you're remodeling the whole thing, start by picking your vanity. Then, pick your sink faucet(s) -- then you'll know if you're looking for more modern or more traditional, say. If traditional, then pick a nice 4" or widespread set with some shaping to the handles; if modern or transitional, look at widespread or single-hole styles, with more sleek profiles. Then move on to picking your tile (and your shower hardware can follow the general lead of your sink hardware)...

In our experience, people are definitely still picking oil-rubbed/vintage/dark bronze hardware.

A good starting point is the bigger, not-as-easily-changed pieces: vanity, sink, toilet, shower, etc., since you probably won't want to update those every few years. Once you have the "bones" picked out, you can choose things like towel bars, paint colors, etc.

There are lots of styles and options to choose from - good luck with the project!

If you like oil rubbed because of the feeling it gives you then it is perfectly "in" for you! I feel bad for all those people who replaced their brass doorknobs with nickle because it was "in", one: the hinges didn't match and two: brass is back in fashion! If your aim is strictly resale then maybe take advise, if it's your long-time home do what YOU love.

i love oil rubbed bronze and put it in my kitchen a year ago. but i only do chrome in my bathrooms; it costs less and always looks right and i'd never need to replace it for in/out resale whatever. also more styles come in chrome and they match across manufacturers.

I don't care what anyone says is "in" or "out"....do what YOU like. Brass coming back?? OMG....no matter what it screams "1980's builder grade" and always will. We replaced every faucet, doorknob, door hinge we could find when we did our remodel over the past 2 months and did brushed nickel and we LOVE IT; much richer looking than brass ever will be. I'm not a fan of the darker oil-rubbed color but if you like it, go for it. Go to a bath place and just look around, you will clearly see things/shapes/styles that you like and those that you don't....make some lists, and go back and look at those again and narrow it down. It takes time and you can't do it all at once.
