How About Some Beautiful Bs?

Here we go with B

Batik (Border Bearded)

Blueberry Tart - SDB. This was my absolute favourite this past season - it just glows! It kept catching my eye from the kitchen window. It grew like gangbusters and bloomed for a long time, then put out a rebloom in September!

Burst of Joy - Tall Bearded. Talk about a good grower! Huge blooms and nice colours, but a little too much purple in that spot!

    Lovely blooms

Very nice. I really am drawn to SDBs. Love that Blue Surf - I very nearly bought that one last season, but I had to cut a few from my list for pocket-book reasons lol. Boo is also very pretty. Love love love Bold Vision and Bel Esprit! Ballistic reminds me of Ruby Eruptions, but with more yellow.

Black Hope - SA, smaller bloom with excellent color. Handsome.

Blatant - RE, falls are the color of beets. Nicely balanced colors.

Blenheim Royal - suffering badly from drought, deeper in color and larger blooms under better conditions. Schreiner orig. described it as bishop's purple before changing to the "blue" label (sales spin).

Blue Fin - SA, very clean and pretty.

    Blueberry Filly - IB, Kasperek'98

Bollywood - Keppel, AM'11, love its colors and ruffles. Not the greatest pic.
    Bronco Down - Burseen'95

Bubbling Over - Ghio. AM'86, still one of the best.

    Bushwhacked - Black, HM'09

Iris, good to see you here!

I hadn't heard of Ghio but I'll definitely be looking up some more of his/her creations! Love that Bubbling Over and also Be Original.

Beverly Sills is one that I have ordered from Breck's but didn't get (mislabel). Perhaps one day I'll add it - have you found it's lived up to the accolades?

    Babbling Brook looks absolutely lovely.

I like Blueberry Filly too - I've spent a fair bit of time looking at Kasperek's creations online. Do they grow well for you? I really like the broken colour patterns, and as an animal person (and a silly person), his names carry huge appeal for me.

So many pretty ones! I'm especially fond of your yellows.

WolfDoc, the 'Beverly Sills' I used to have didn't excite me. It was the only iris I've ever had that developed soft rot. Shock. Then I got rhizomes from a friend and planted them in another area. I could swear it is different from my old one and really beautiful. 'Anna Belle Babson' looks very similar and excellent too.

I've only had 'Baboon Bottom' (Kasperek). It bloomed then dwindled away :-( 'Batik' did not like my friend's awful clay (dwindled away). 'Blueberry Filly' was vigorous for another friend on mountain sandy "soil" but not as handsome as 'Batik'.

    'Blue Moment' is lovely.

Blue Moment certainly is lovely! Love the veining. Beckoning is beautiful too - great saturated colours and bright cheerful beard!

Iris, Batik has been great for me. I'm lucky to have good soil - nice and loamy and I amend when planting. It gets some fun broken patterns. Here's one I particularly liked from last season:
