Looks like stem rot. How big is the cutting? You can take a pair of clean pruners and cut about an inch below the black at an angle (so water wont build up on the future) and see if you have clean, healthy wood. If not, cut again another inch down until you do. Make sure you clean the pruners between cuts with rubbing alcohol or something similar.

Well I did what you said and holy moly! It was certainly stem rot.

I cut it and it looked+smelled bad on both ends.... I pulled it out of the Baggie and it was moldy at the bottom end :(

good news though! My other cutting that I am rooting is looking nice and promising :)

Usually stem rot is caused by too much moisture. The cutting looks salvageable, so let it sit for a few days to callus on the bottom and put it into fresh moist (not wet) soil. Do not use the old medium as it still has the fungus.

lol sorry about the confusion. the picture that I posted was of my other cutting and I was saying that there was good news because that cutting is looking good. not the one that had stem rot. the one that had stem rot was lonnngggg gone. sorry again
