Those re-design problems can be frustrating, but at the same time, sometimes things turn out better!! I DO hate the ripping out seams part, tho! oiiii.

Your redesign will end up more to your liking since it will be new and different than the original concept!

I hate when that happens. Would it be possible to use one fabric for vertical rows and another for horizontal rows? If you can post a picture perhaps someone can help you out.

I also hate being short on fabric, especially when I order pretty well everything on line. Let it rest a day or two and a solution will come. We would love to see what you are working on.

Sorry to hear this. But did you know that there are websites where people ask for out of stock fabric/s. I no longer have the links bookmarked, but I have stumbled onto them a few times. Perhaps a photo of the fabric. Do you know the name?

You can see this quilt design on the video Double Square Star in the Missouri Star Quilt site. The design in the video actually doesn't have the sashing strips but I decided I wanted them, should have left it alone and followed the video design. Sigh... I'm like that, I always want to tweak everything. I could probably travel 40 miles to the next Joann's and find the fabric but I don't want to. Also I thought about doing the horizontal strips in one fabric and the verticals in another but decided against it. After I get it undone and then sew all the blocks together I'm going to see if the remaining fabric I have left will do a border all around. It will probably come out fine but not what I planned. As for posting a photo, I stopped doing that a long time ago when I found my photos all over the Google images when looking for other things. It's not that I mind sharing on this forum, I just don't like the idea that others take the photos and post them somewhere else. It probably sounds selfish but I just don't like not being in control of my stuff.

Some folks use a copyright tag in their pix, for exactly that reason.

They do it anyway. Google just sends a robot to scoop up photos. No person ever sees them or makes a decision. On one of the garden forums, someone posted a photo of a fountain she made. It was on Google by that afternoon, They seem to have the philosophy that anything published anywhere in any format can be republished on their site with impunity. It seems they are correct.
